"Aporia" (Prank Records; 2010)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

"Aporia" is an interesting collection of tunes that have a Motorhead drive to them with a little death metal bite which gives it a unique sound that works well. I've heard this band compared to The Cro-Mags and I can see similarities there as well.

The lead vocalist has a death metal roar but it's never quite cookie monster over-the-top. The music isn?t sludgy like some death metal but instead is clear, fast and crushing while still delivering a much brighter dynamic than a lot of others in the genre.

The downsides here are the same for many other bands/albums of the genre (some of the tracks sound an awful lot like others) but repeat listening should bring out the individuality of each track.

"Aporia" is definitely worth a listen.
