BLUE HOUR GHOSTS

"Due" (Rockshots Records; 2021)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

"Due," by Blue Hour Ghosts, is modern melodic rock bolstered by chunky guitars. It's balanced with synthesizers, electronic sounds and keyboards and, because of that, sometimes falls into territory that's a little too poppy for me.

The tracks I liked best were the ones with a little heavier edge: "Fearless," "Lower the Wires" and "Walking Backwards" come to mind. Most of the others were too slow-paced for me, and at least one track sounds like it should be included in the new Top Gun movie ("On Black Clouds").

As with all music, this one boils down to a matter of personal taste. If you're looking for melodic hard rock that isn't too hard, then "Due" might be for you.

Blue Hour Ghosts: Andrew Gunner: drums; Diego Angeli: guitars; Francesco Poggi: guitars; Matteo Malmusi: bass; Ricky Dc: Vocals; Simone Pedrazzi: Keyboards.
