CRISIS

"Like Sheep Led to Slaughter" (The End; 2004)

Reviewed by Snidermann

If you ask me, there's nothing sexier than a female rocker: Ann and Nancy Wilson, Pat Benetar, Otep Shamaya and now, Karyn Crisis.

Of course, it takes more than sexiness to make a great rock'n'roll band and Crisis has all the makings of an outstanding group: character, drive, charisma and a killer aggressive sound that I liked from the very first track. This CD is packed with loud, in-your-face metal and puts Crisis on the list of today's A-list of the best up-and-coming metal bands.

Karyn's voice is intense and haunting and it drives this recording relentlessly. Combined with an astounding songwriting ability and also a first-rate musical line-up makes Crisis the real deal. "Like Sheep to Slaughter" is a solid, no-holds-barred metal performance.

Crisis: Karyn Crisis - vocals; Afzall Nasiruddeen - guitar; Jwyanza Hobson - guitar; Gia Chuan Wang - bass; Josh Florian - drums.
