EVEN SONG

"Even Song" (Demo)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Hailing from New Windsor, IL, Even Song plays songs that explore the boundaries of 'hard rock' and which owe a lot to 60's rock and rough edged folk music. The band's comments in their press release say it all: "Anything Goes." What strikes one most about Even Song is the band's apparent desire to play songs that are obviously written from the heart and that don't necessarily fit into any pigeonhole genre.

For whatever reason, the band that Even Song most reminds me of is Union featuring Bruce Kulick and John Corabi. A very effective, unusual collection of well-written songs with exceptionally thoughtful lyrics. Interesting note: Dana deChaby and Walker T. Petibone also played in the more hardcore band Stretcher.

EVEN SONG: Rich Smith - lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards; Dana deChaby - lead guitar; Walker Petibone - drums; Paul Gil - bass.
