EVOLOTTO

"6ixers" (Sin Klub; 2003)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Evolotto took a little getting used to, but - after repeated listening - I have decided I like the band and their power and discipline. Evolotto has traces of Helmet's sound; overall, the music is hard, straight-to-the-point, loud, raw, explosive and fun. Need I say more?

"6ixers" rocks throughout but sometimes the vocals are a bit rough and difficult to get into. Still, the bottom line is that Evolotto's "6ixers" is one good, strong, solid rock'n'roll record that is worth a spin or two.

I've also got to mention the cover art: A sexy blond - red horns sprouting from here head - wearing a red top, black mini-skirt, and fishnet stockings and sitting on a classic red car. In my book, that must be worth at least half a chainsaw.

By the way - after this review was written, vocalist Schmid has left the band and will be replaced by former Valve vocalist Matt Myers.

Evolotto: Schmid - vocals, bass; Chris Sobb - guitar; Ben Bomlitz - drums.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
