GANDHI'S GUNN

"The Longer the Beard, the Harder the Sound" (Taxi Driver Records; 2012)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

Gandhi's Gunn are stoner metal. They are from Italy.

Fuzzy wuzzy smoked a bowl because this stuff is pretty cool. I like stoner metal because the guitar is always going. The lyrics aren't always about dope, that's not what stoner metal is about anyway. Most of the time they are just about life in general. The vocals are clean, the vibe is straight-forward and you can chill while you listen to these guys create a fuzz-filled atmosphere.

The longest track, "Flood," is almost eight minutes of music. It builds and builds and keep with traditional stoner metal sound. I think a lot of the music here could be considered hard rock but the muffled guitar causes you to slot them into the doom category. That's cool, no problem, just chill and dig on their vibe and don't harsh their mellow.

Gandhi's Gunn: Giacomo H Boeddu - Vocals; Francesco Raimondi - Guitars; Massimo Perasso - Bass; Andrea Tabb́ De Bernardi - Drums.
