GO AHEAD AND DIE

"Unhealthy Mechanisms" (Nuclear Blast; 2023)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Sometimes when I listen to music, I need my motherfucking ears to bleed. Not all the time, of course, but when I want that it isn't hard to find such music. And I found it again in Go Ahead and Die with Max Cavalera (Sepultura, Soulfly and Killer Be Killed), his son Igor Amadeus Cavalera (what a great name!; if I had that moniker I would use it on every official document I could) and Zach Coleman (Khemmis).

I really didn't know what to expect from this recording, but if Max Cavalera was involved, I knew it would be awesome and it was from the very beginning. I know this is a modern era of overdubs and post production enhancements, but I really don’t think this band does that. Loud and in-your-face would be an understatement. Thunderous, raucous and incredibly ferocious would be words you'd use to describe this recording.

On a personal note, I have to say that any band with Max Cavalera in it, I am into. As for Go Ahead and Die and their recording "Unhealthy Mechanisms," I am way more than in. I think I will spin this bitch once again right this second.

If you need (or want) your ears to bleed, if only for a little while, check out this recording.
