GRIZ

"My Revolution" (Ragin' Grace; 2004)

Reviewed by Snidermann

"My Revolution" is where metal meets rap and it's quite an explosive powder keg.

The presentation is volatile and in your face from the very first cut and there are never any excuses for being what it is: a pure, musical, thermonuclear explosion. There are no apologies, either, for this CD's outright American patriotism which blasts out from the lyrics in virtually every tune.

I did feel that the rap/metal combination sometimes seemed a bit forced and, hence, was difficult to get into. Still, Griz is definitely a cutting edge band and "My Revolution" is not for the faint of heart. It's loud, it's rude, it's opinionated, it's vulgar ... and it's fun!

"My Revolution" features a cover of Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" that you gotta hear to believe.
