IQ

"Frequency" (Inside/Out; 2009)

Reviewed by Jeff Rogers

I've always been a fan of progressive music so when I found this band on a random search, I just had to dive into their sound.

IQ are British neo-prog. Fans of Porcupine Tree will find a lot to like here. IQ also have a sound that is comparable to Genesis, Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett. "Frequency" is IQ's 2009 disc; they've been around for a while and have changed musical styles a couple of times due to vocal duties being handled by two different singers.

Since IQ are neo-prog they don't have that heavy sound going all the time but what they do have is a steady sound that combines guitar, keyboards and melodic solos.

If you are looking for something different but still in line with progressive music then give IQ a listen.
