IRON JAW

"Cursed" (NoLifeTilMetal; 2025)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Iron Jaw's "Cursed" is a solid slab of traditional heavy metal with hints of Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Dio and so many other, truly great artists. With its chunky guitars, searing riffs, pounding rhythm section and soaring vocals, one can imagine this band would have been huge when heavy metal was king.

Most of the songs are faster-paced; maybe not at Motorhead or Slayer speed, but in line with the above-mentioned Judas Priest. An exception is "Order of the Golden Dawn," which throbs along a bit before pressing the accelerator.

There's not a bad track to be found here, but my favorites were the opener, "Tonight We Raid," which firmly sets the template for the rest of the album; the grindingly heavy "Pyromancer," and the closer (and title track) "Cursed" which takes the album out leaving you wanting more.

Fans of classic heavy metal will find plenty to like on Iron Jaw's "Cursed."
