MELDRUM

"Loaded Mental Cannon" (Record Heaven Music)

Reviewed by Snidermann

If you can possibly help it, never miss the opening bands that you've never heard of when you go to your local theater to see your favorite band. Every once in a while, you'll find a band you never heard of that just kicks total ass. Meldrum is just such an band.

I first experienced Meldrum when they opened for Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society and - not only were they beautiful women - they rocked like there was no tomorrow. I was so impressed, I purchased one of their CDs (which the band promptly autographed). The CD was entitled "Loaded Mental Cannon" and, for my money, it was a loaded metal cannon.

Strong music throughout with killer vocals and a bitchin' overall performance makes Meldrum one of the surprise acts of the year. I can't wait to hear more! And, unlike most of the bands I have heard recently in which the live performance far outshines the studio material, Meldrum shines in both.

Meldrum: Moa Homsten - vocals; Michelle Meldrum - guitar; Frida Stahl - bass; Fredrick Haake - drums.
