MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES

"Pay Attention" (Big Rig/Island; 2000)

Reviewed by Pud

The Bosstones are one of the few "party" bands still around today. Everyone else is depressed and feeling the need to sing about it. On this CD, The Boston boys bring more of the usual. Party ska, party punk, and party rock'n'roll. The radio hit "So Sad to say" is the best song and the voice of Dickies Gruf is unique and bombastic. (Did I just say bombastic?)

Nothing groundbreaking but a solid CD to have playing in the background at a frat party while you're trying to score with some "Betty." Good luck. Oh, yeah: The Bosstones also put on a raging live show. Go see them.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
