MISSING 23rd

"The Powers That Be" (Mankind)

Reviewed by Snidermann

I caught Ventura's Missing 23rd at the Ventura Theatre recently and I was more than a little impressed at the quality of the band's music despite the shitty PA system of the venue. Their brand of power metal punk has an infectious unique overtone which I found more than a bit compelling and I couldn't wait to get home to check out their CD.

I was not disappointed. "The Powers That Be" is jam-packed with cool tunes, bitchin’ lyrics and a shitload of insight. Social issues are abundant throughout the CD; however, the music is still fun and easy to listen to.

One of the freshest punk bands to pass these ears in a long while, I can’t wait to hear new music from Missing 23rd.

Missing 23rd is John, Mike, Nick and Victor.

Rating Guide:

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
