NAME TAKEN

"Hold On" (Fiddler; 2004)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Any punk rock that isn't spongerock is good for the music industry as well as good for the soul. Name Taken's "Hold On" is light punk that is fun and easy to listen to while the band deserves props for delivering a good, solid performance throughout.

Occasionally, "Hold On" hits a rough spot and the music tends to drag a bit but - when the band really moves - it more than makes up for it. The songwriting is well done and thought-provoking, providing a perfect background for the lyrical storytelling.  The only negative thing I can see is that the band often proves they can rock hard - they should do it more and even harder.

Name Taken: Chad Atkinson - vocals and bass; Ryan Edwards - guitar; Blake Means - guitar; Juan - drums.
