OVER IT

"Silverstrand" (Lobster Records; 2005)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Over It's "Silverstrand" is one of those rare examples of pop punk (or power pop or whatever the hell you want to call it) that actually works. More than just another in the seemingly endless Blink 182 and Good Charlotte clones, the energetic songwriting and charismatic performance found on "Silverstrand" make it the kind of mainstream rock album you can actually enjoy without being embarrassed.

Crisply produced and featuring twelve strong tracks, "Silverstrand" is a record worth seeking out for fans of modern music looking for something that isn't just another carbon copy. With "Silverstrand," Over It takes a perhaps too popular sound style and gives it enough edge to make it sound fresh, energetic and exciting.

Over it: Nick Bailey - guitar, vocals; Peter Munters - vocals, guitars; James Ulrich - drums; Seth Watts - bass, vocals.
