THE QUILL

"Hooray! It's a Death Trip" (Steamhammer; 2003)

Reviewed by Snidermann

The Quill's "Hooray! It's a Death Trip" is one of the best all around heavy metal records I've heard in a long time. The entire package is one that is easy to listen to and rocks like a mother without missing a beat. The music sounds like Soundgarden in their heyday and, what the hell, no one is sounding like that these days, especially Soundgarden.

The Quill puts energy, emotion, talent and attitude into "It's a Death Trip" that deserves some serious airplay. Of course, because it's so good, you know it won't.

A solid performance from a truly talented band that knows what metal is all about today. The Quill lives up to and exceeds that expectation.  I can only imagine what these dudes are like live - I think they would rock the fuckin' house! I expect some great things in the future from this band and I think "Hooray! It's a Death Trip" will spend a long time in my CD player.

The Quill: Jelle Atlagic; Christian Carlessen; Magus Ekwalll; Roger Nilssen.
