SEAS WILL RISE

"Disease is Our Refrain" (Anxiety Machine; 2012)

Reviewed by Mike SOS

Arizona quartet Seas Will Rise conjures up an impenetrable combo of raucous D-beat hardcore (“Waves and Waves”) and dense sludge metal on the 10-track album "Disease is Our Refrain."

Projecting with a subtle no frills aggression (“In Warmer Graves”), this quartet doles out a predictable yet enjoyable batch of songs teeming with sharp riffs (“To Scratch Out a Life”) and simple yet chaotic structures (“A Wish for The Earth”) to form a crusty punk hardcore sound where Propain, Tragedy and Entombed intersect (“Eviction Notice,” “A Sleeper’s Cell”).
