THE SEWER BUDDIES

"Butt Brains" (Self-Released; 2020)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Um. I don't really know what to make of The Sewer Buddies. Their new EP, "Butt Brains," is the latest in a ongoing collection of "Butt" titles (as in "Pizza Butt," "Sewer Butt" and (my personal favorite) "Butt Sick."

According to their bio, the band's goal is to "create punk songs for kids of all ages" and "to try and write silly lyrics that get kids excited to explore heavy music."

Well, the got the silly lyrics part down.

Honestly, it's not so bad. It's bouncy, poppy, playful punk rock with a vocalist who sounds more than a little like the female vocalists of The B-52s, It's weird, it's funky and it's definitely geared toward kids but it's also kind of interesting.

Would I recommend The Sewer Buddies to fans of Black Flag and The Ramones? I don't think so.  But for those looking for something weird and different ... well, you don't have to look much further than The Sewer Buddies.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
