"Timing Is Everything" (Rock Ridge Music; 2006)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

If you're a fan of modern alternative rock, you'll love Six Ounce Gloves and their "Timing is Everything" CD. Why? Because it sounds like all the other modern alternative rock out there.

A ten track collection of heavy (but not too heavy) radio-friendly tunes, "Timing is Everything" is certainly well-executed and the band displays a certain, grimy charisma. Still, track one doesn't sound that much different from track ten and all of this CD can be filed in the "been there, done that" category.

Fans of similar bands (i.e., Dredg, 10 Years, and many others) can add Six Ounce Gloves to their list of those who do their genre justice. Those looking for something new and different best look elsewhere.

Six Ounce Gloves: Mike - bass; Darren - drums; Mitch - vocals; Chad - guitar; James - guitar.
