SPLITSENSE

"Somber" (Self-produced)

Reviewed by Snidermann

This self-produced CD by SplitSense is a appropriately entitled. If you're looking for music to fit your mood, and "Somber" happens to be the mood you're looking for, this CD is for you.

For the most part, "Somber" is a solid modern metal performance, with great, foot-stomping rock'n'roll that firmly grabs the listener and holds their attention. The vocals, however, are a bit too drawn out and down key - "somber" if you will - and the combination just doesn't gel.

Maybe it was just my mood. Maybe I didn't need to come down. The band's talent is obvious throughout and maybe I was expecting something a little more light-hearted. Whatever the reason, SplitSense just didn't click for me. Maybe it will for you. For more information, check out their excellent, (although dizzying) website at http://www.splitsense.com
