"Above the Ashes" (Relentless; 2004)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Holy crap! My ears are bleeding as I listen to Ulysses Siren and their release "Above The Ashes."

If you like thunderous speed metal, Ulysses Siren should be right up your alley. I was amazed at what this band can do! "Above The Ashes" is cut after cut of killer music; each track is a well crafted ditty that kept me interested throughout and that is something in itself.

I thought quality speed metal was a thing of the past, but as I listened to "Above the Ashes," I found that the genre is alive and well. I was not prepared for the sheer explosiveness of this CD. It's like being transported to a time when speed metal ruled the world! This shit is powerful, raw and in your face from the start and, after you listen for a while, you know that you are in the presence of speed metal royalty.
