UPPERCUT

"A Luta Continua" (I Scream; 2002)

Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Uppercut's combination of old school hardcore with more than a hint of punk will win over anyone who enjoys music of either genre.

"A Luta Continua" runs the gamut from speedy, near-thrash hardcore rockers ("Found Your Way") to relatively slower old school hardcore ("Deathwish"). There's even a school contained herein called "Old School Style" and I will print the lyrics to said song in their entirety just to prove a point:

Old School Style
Play fast, thrash hard
Skate tuff, do you part
Most it up, go fucking wild
Stay true to the old school style
Old!
School!
Style!
Old School Style!

My point? Uppercut play old school hardcore and they love playing old school hardcore. If that genre is to your liking, you'll really enjoy "A Luta Continua," its 15 tracks and their 27 minute runtime.

Uppercut: Vocals - Michiel; guitar - Robin; bass - Jeroen; drums - Patrick
