"Inside the Sandbox: A Tribute to
Rick Selga" (Long Beach Records; 2025)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton

Rick Selga was a beloved drummer from the Long Beach area. Sadly, he passed away from cancer in 2022. This collection is a tribute to Selga, including unreleased music from his band, Secret Hate, as well as other bands that he was involved with, one way or another.
Secret Hate is joined here by Glue Factory, Hamapple and Das Klown here and the tracks are a mishmash of punk rock and alternative music. It seems inappropriate to review the music on this CD piece-by-piece (since it was given from the heart) but suffice to say that I enjoyed listening to the fourteen tracks here, and especially enjoyed Hamapple's cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade of Winter."
Punk rock fans, particularly those familiar with the Long Beach scene, will enjoy this collection, too.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.
Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
