"The
Return of the Rock" (Roadrunnner)

You know, this isn't a bad CD by any means but I find myself having trouble giving it more than the "So-So" rating of two chainsaws. Why? Because this CD, although it's a nice compilation of bands you know and love and bands you may have never heard of, is seriously lacking in the imagination department.
Again, that's not to say this is a bad CD, it's just not a particularly exciting CD. If you've heard the bands hereon, you've heard them elsewhere (although there are "unreleased" tracks here by Kid Rock, Korn, Static-X, Boiler Room, Liquid Gang and Dope) but nothing here will surprise you. I don't really see the need for this particular compilation other than the fact it gave MTV an excuse to come up with an admittedly bitchin' cover and to put the word "rock" near their corporate logo, a combination that really hasn't gone together for some time.

Rating Guide:
A classic. This
record will kick your ass.
Killer. Not a classic but it
will rock your world.
So-so. You've heard better.
Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.
Self explanatory. Just the sight of the
cover makes you wanna hurl.
