"The Best of Rockline" (Priority Records)

Reviewed by Snidermann

Priority Records has combined with Rockline, the long, long-running (since 1981) syndicated rock interview radio show, to compile a CD entitled "The Best of Rockline" with a portion of the proceeds going to the MusiCares charity. This CD contains a little something for everybody - from the folksy sounds of the Wallflowers to the hard rock ravings of Two. It's not a bad selection; neither too soft for the hard rock fan nor two hard for the soft rock fan. In fact, most of the songs get a lot of FM radio air play in their original versions. The best song is the last one, "I Am A Pig" by Rob Halford's band Two. Also noteworthy are "And Fools Shine On" by Brother Cane and "Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla. Track listing is as follows:

"6th Avenue Heartache" - The Wallflowers
"Drive You Mild" - The Verve Pipe
"Open Up your Eyes" - Tonic
"Circus" - Lenny Kravitz
"Counting Blue Cars" - Dishwalla
"Good" - Better Than Erza
"Into Your Drug" - Matthew Sweet
"Water's Edge" - 7 Mary 3
"One Angel" - Stir
"And Fools Shine On" - Brother Cane
"S.R.V." - Eric Johnson
"I Am A Pig" - Two

Fans of any of the bands above will really like this recording. And, hey, it's for a good cause. MusiCares also has two help lines for those in need. The West Coast help line is 800/687-4227 and the East Coast help line is 877/626-2748.

A classic. This record will kick your ass.

Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world.

So-so. You've heard better.

Pretty bad. Might make a nice coaster.

Self explanatory. Just the sight of the cover makes you wanna hurl.
