WYLDLIFE
"sorted." (Wicked Cool Records; 2025)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
Wyldlife's "sorted." (their spelling) is eleven tracks of what I would call "glitter punk." It's a fascinating combo of 70s (maybe 80s) pop punk (as on "Generate to Terminate"), and the glitter experimentation of artists like David Bowie (as on "Dizzy"). It's crisp, clean and catchy and impossible not to get caught up in. It's much closer to Green Day than it is to The Ramones.
My favorite tracks were the burning first track, "Bystander," and the above-mentioned "Generate to Terminate." Truth is, however, that many of the tracks on "sorted." might be too poppy for some readers of RoughEdge.com. Again, if you're looking for the Sex Pistols or the Dead Boys, "sorted." probably isn't your record. Fans of Billy Idol and Rancid, however, may find "sorted." to their liking.
