...After years of presenting the world with the Jim Rose Circus, featuring freaks, geeks and other examples of human bizarreness, JIM ROSE has announced his retirement. According to a Reuters report, Rose said, "I'm going to call it quits. It's been a great run, but I think I've reached the end of the line." The Jim Rose Circus featured such unforgettable acts as Mr. Lifto (who lifted a ten pound brick with his penis), the Enigma (a completely tattooed man who ate live insects and played love ballads on the piano), Mexican transvestite wrestling, organ origami (in which Rose folded his penis into many, oddly recognizable images) and, of course, Rose's wife, Bebe, who shots sparks from her crotch. If you haven't seen it, all we can tell you is that it was a truly mesmerizing experience. You can read more about the Jim Rose Circus in Rose's book, "Freak Like Me."...

The current lineup includes Wade Black on vocals; Jon Drenning on guitars; Ben Jackson on guitars; Jeff Lords on bass and Steve Wacholz on drums. ...Don't expect the same fiery political commentary from the latest CD by SKUNK ANANSIE. The band has decided to take it down just a notch from the powerful commentary of their previous work. Explains vocalist Skin, "If you keep saying and doing the same thing in the same way, people get bored and when they get bored they stop listening.  Our songs are still from a Skunk viewpoint lifted from the lives we directly see; we just took a different approach to the way we express ourselves. ...DOUBLEDRIVE, who were voted Atlanta's "favorite heavy/extreme band," are
enjoying the success of their debut CD, "1000 Yard Stare" and their current hot
single, "Tattooed Bruise (Here & There)." The band features a lead singer who uses two microphones (you've apparently got to see it to believe it; "One mic's got magic in it; two mics have twice the power," says vocalist Donnie Hamby) and delivers a sound that brings to mind that of SOUNDGARDEN or MONSTER MAGNET yet still offers its own unique sound. There's probably more melodic stuff happening musically, although there's also more thrashing. I don’t know, it's basically the riffage of 'The Legacy' meets the melodic vocals of 'Practice What You Preach' meets 'Demonic' all put together." For tour dates, click here...
