Starring Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton, Harvey Keitel, Jon Bon Jovi
The big-budget World War II adventure - in which a group of American submariners find themselves stranded aboard a German sub with which they must return home - is released to VHS and DVD. A generally exciting and entertaining film though not as pulse-pounding as one might have hoped  based on the film's terrific trailer. Great special effects and a terrific cast help. DVD features include "Spotlight on Location: The Making of U-571," interviews with the cast & crew; footage of the production sets and designs; interviews with British veterans on the inner works of the German Enigma code machines; a real life account of the capturing of a U-110; an interview with a U.S. Navy admiral on his experiences aboard a submarine during World War II; authentic U.S. Naval archival footage on the capturing of the U-505; trailers; production notes; cast and filmmaker bios; DVD-ROM features.

JURASSIC PARK DVD TITLES (Universal)
Universal finally releases two of its biggest-ever hits to DVD: "Jurassic Park" and its sequel "The Lost World," both directed by legendary director Steven Spielberg. The films are available in a number of ways so let's begin, shall we?
JURASSIC PARK DVD features a "Making Of" documentary; rare behind-the-scenes footage of pre-production meetings, animatics by Oscar-winning special effects creator Phil Tippett, production photographs; a dinosaur encyclopedia; storyboards; production notes; cast & filmmakers bios and theatrical trailers. $26.98.
THE LOST WORLD DVD features a "Making Of" featurette; delete scenes; illustrations and early conceptual drawings; storyboards; models; theatrical trailers; a dinosaur encyclopedia; cast & filmmaker bios. $26.98.
Both of the above also contain DVD-ROM weblinks that will allow users to participate in a "live-on-location" webcast and chat with the cast and crew members of the upcoming "Jurassic Park III." No date has been set, but users will be notified after registering at http://www.jurassicpark.com through the DVD. Also included are a "live" webcast and chat with the special effects team at Industrial Light and Magic; special sneak previews and trailers from "Jurassic Park III"; and a "live" webcast of the theatrical world premiere of "Jurassic Park III."

SHANGHAI NOON (Touchstone)
Starring Jackie Chan, Owen Wilson, Lucy Liu
One of the summer's most enjoyable films comes to homevideo. Chan stars as a Chinese Imperial Guard who must rescue Princess Pei Pei from the hands of evil Westerners. Owen is a somewhat flaky cowboy who comes to Chan's aid. A hilarious romp through the old West with terrific performances by Chan, Wilson and Liu. Highly recommended to those who still like movies that are just fun! Rated PG-13; 110m; Closed-captioned. Also available on DVD featuring audio commentary by Chan, Wilson and director Tom Dey; featurette on the making of the film; featurette on the film's stunts; seven deleted scenes; and a "Shanghai Surprise" interactive experience that unlocks hidden features.

The classic horror film, "The Blob," is treated to a new soundtrack courtesy of the L.A. Connection improvisational comedy group who have added an animated mouth and voice to the gelatinous creature as well as a couple of outlandish musical numbers. COMMITTED (Miramax)
Starring Heather Graham, Luke Wilson, Goran Visnjic
A young wife in New York City traces down her husband - who has suddenly left her - in a determined way to get him back. When she finds him, she resorts to anything - including voodoo - to try and put their marriage back together. Rated R; also available on DVD featuring Dolby 5.1 surround.

A Catholic Priest and a Rabbi, friends since they were children, find themselves dueling over the love of a longtime female friend who had suddenly come back into their lives. Of course, considering this female friend is Jenna Elfman, who can blame them? A very funny and entertaining film with enjoyable performances by all. Rated PG-13. LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE (Anchor Bay)
