HELD.

Held. (that's their period, not ours) features band members Douglas Robinson and Sal Mignano (both of The Sleeping) and Josh Eppard (co-founding member of Coheed And Cambria) so you'd expect something pretty special on the band's album, "Grey." And you'll find something special here, for sure. Maybe not what you expected, but something special nonetheless.
Described in the press release as "post-hardcore," (why are there so many labels?). Held.'s "Grey" is ten tracks of rough and raw rock'n'roll that delivers irresistible rhythms, energetic and powerful vocals, and dynamic guitar. There's a lot of atmosphere here, too. Tracks like "Broken Spacesuit (Decay and Sand)," and "Emptiness: A Side Effect," play like little movies, enrobing you in their worlds.
My personal favorite track is, of course, "Knifepoint," which not only features Graham Sayle of High Vis but also shares a title with my novel, "Knifepoint," which you can buy here (how's that for subtle product placement?).
Held.'s "Grey" is a fascinating and engaging listen from beginning to end. It's the kind of album that might surprise you with its unexpected sound, but that you'll be glad you came across anyway.
