...More sad news to report: Traci Michaelz of the PEPPERMINT CREEPS was found dead in his hotel room on Friday, June 13th. The 34 year old rocker performed at the Rock Star Bar and Grill the night before in Fort Worth Texas. The cause of death is unknown and an autopsy is currently being conducted. His funeral will be held on June 20th at 3:00 pm at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery...

...Jari Kaiponen, original drummer of BURNING POINT, has decided to leave the band. Fortunately, the band had a new drummer ready to roll: former keyboardist Jussi Ontero will step behind the drum kit while the band hires someone new at the keys. As for his reasons for leaving the band, Kaiponen stated: "Hello everybody, I have an announcement to make that I decided to quit the drumming for Burning Point. It was tough and kind of sad decision and I've been thinking to giving up for a while. I just couldn't handle the schedules and time limits for the next album etc. Also I felt that my personal time was very limited and I want to give 100% if I'm gonna keep doing this. That's why I felt that it was better for me to step aside. Now on I'm concentrating fully on National Napalm Syndicate, which is my other band. I wanna thank all the nice people, fans and bands I have met and all people who worked with the band during these past 9 years. Also I wanna thank the BP guys: Pete, Pekka, Jukka and Jussi. The ex-members: Jukka K. and Jöpe! There´s been lots of good memories and even some bad, but all this has been quite a ride and important part of my life! Thanks and all the best." Primal Fear has released the following statement: "It’s amusing what a single guitar riff can initiate. Of course we recognized some similarities to our song 'Evil Spell' when we heard the opening guitar riff of the new Bullet For My Valentine album 'Scream Aim Fire.' We know the guys and we shared the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver for some weeks in the end of 2005. What do we think about this? We love metal and we’re adults. We like the music of Bullet For My Valentine and we have a lot of respect for their work. Cool songs, a fantastic production and great guys! If the guitar work in one song is very similar to a Primal Fear riff or song, we’re ok with it and not out for any trouble … and we don’t want to receive another 150 mails about this matter – we’re fine and it’s great if “Scream Aim Fire” has a little PF vibe!"... But there is a catch: The download will expire after three days if users don't opt to upgrade and purchase the album as a full download. This unique approach is explained by the band's manager, Rod Smallwood: "Maiden have a huge catalog that is highly treasured by fans and media alike. However, we recognize that our ever-increasing fan base is very young and can't be expected to know all the earlier albums, which is why we have put this collection together for them. Many of our fans weren't even born when the original albums were first released, although amazingly they seem to know all the lyrics when they sing along with the band at our concerts! We also recognize that 'albums' as such have become unfashionable to many over recent years with TV-generated pop artists stringing a couple of 'hit' singles together with filler tracks and releasing them as a quick fill album which disappoints and quickly becomes dated. So this is both an introduction to the band's recording history and a chance for young fans to try a full-length Maiden album and realize they're getting the real deal! ...IRON MAIDEN will finally release the legendary "Live After Death" video, shot during the band's four sold-out nights in Long Beach, CA, in 1984, on DVD with a special double disc edition due in stores on February 5th. The first disc contains the original version of the classic 90-minute concert film with both a newly created 5.1 Surround Sound mix and the original stereo sound track by Martin Birch. Disc 2 contains Part 2 of the "History of Iron Maiden" documentary feature (Part 1 can be found on "The Early Days" DVD), as well as over three hours of rare and previously unseen footage, photo galleries, promo videos, artwork, tour dates, a tour program and more. Says the band's manager Rod Smallwood: "The original video of 'Live After Death' has not been readily available for a long time so it's good that we finally got around to this. It was one of the first full concerts to be filmed after the advent of video and, of course, the live album, recorded on a different night to the video, has long been considered to be one of the seminal Metal live albums and has sold millions since. Fans have been begging us to do this DVD for some time now but we wanted to wait until we were able to recreate that whole tour to go with it and also to make it part of a series of DVDs that we are putting together around the band's history. ...More bad news to report: HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS guitarist Casey Calvert, 26, was pronounced dead Saturday after police were called to the band's tour bus outside Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club around 2:30 PM and found him unconscious. No other information is currently available. The band posted the following on their website: "Today is probably the worst day ever. It's with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We've spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don't contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don't want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know.
